Why Use Polyurethane in Steel Processing?

Polyurethane elastomers offer a combination of wear resistance, resilience, impact resistance, and customizable hardness, making them suitable for selected steel processing and handling applications.
  1. High Abrasion Resistance-Polyurethane rollers, liners, and wear components can withstand repeated friction and contact, helping reduce premature component wear.
  2. Surface Protection-Properly selected polyurethane surfaces can provide controlled contact with steel coils and strips while helping reduce scratching and mechanical damage.
  3. Impact Resistance-Polyurethane pads, bumpers, and protective components can absorb repeated impact and help protect equipment during coil handling and material transfer.
  4. Dimensional Stability-Custom polyurethane components can be manufactured to specified dimensions, tolerances, and hardness requirements for consistent equipment operation.
  5. Custom Material Performance-Polyurethane formulation and hardness can be selected according to load, speed, abrasion, friction, temperature, chemicals, and other operating conditions.

Steel Processing Challenges We Help Solve

Steel production involves continuous material movement, heavy loads, friction, abrasion, and demanding operating conditions.
  1. Roller Wear & Surface Damage-Polyurethane Solution: Polyurethane rollers, sleeves, and coated rollers provide wear-resistant contact surfaces for selected steel processing applications.
  2. Steel Surface Protection-Polyurethane Solution: Properly selected polyurethane rollers, guides, and pads can help reduce direct metal-to-metal contact and protect steel surfaces during handling and processing.
  3. Heavy Loads & Continuous Operation-Polyurethane Solution: High-performance polyurethane components can be designed for repeated loading, continuous movement, and demanding production environments.
  4. Impact During Coil Handling-Polyurethane Solution: Polyurethane pads, bumpers, saddles, and protective components can absorb impact and help protect steel coils and equipment.
  5. Frequent Roller & Component Replacement-Polyurethane Solution: Application-specific polyurethane materials, hardness, geometry, and manufacturing processes can help improve wear life and reduce maintenance frequency.

Custom Polyurethane Manufacturing for Steel Applications

We manufacture custom polyurethane elastomer components according to engineering drawings, CAD files, samples, and technical specifications. Our manufacturing process combines material selection, mold design, casting or molding, machining, bonding, and inspection to produce components suited to steel processing and handling equipment.
  • Drawing or Sample- Provide your engineering drawing, CAD file, existing sample, or component specifications. We review dimensions, geometry, tolerances, roller structure, and application requirements.
  • Material & Hardness Selection- We recommend a suitable polyurethane material and hardness based on load, speed, abrasion, friction, impact, temperature, chemical exposure, and operating conditions.
  • Mold Design & Molding- Molds are designed according to the required component geometry. Polyurethane can then be cast or molded according to the component design and production requirements.
  • Machining, Grinding & Finishing- After molding, polyurethane components and rollers can be machined, ground, trimmed, drilled, or finished to achieve the required dimensions, tolerances, surface finish, and assembly requirements.
  • Inspection- Finished components are inspected for dimensions, hardness, appearance, surface condition, and other specified requirements before shipment.
